I do try and read a little on social media topics and trends that are currently working their way around the blogosphere. With Kristin’s involvement in blogging, I have gotten involved with what happens in her life, as it is only right for me to be concerned and interested in what she does.
If have written here on my blog, a little on my take with mom bloggers and problems.
Now this is nothing new if you pay attention to how and why companies want or need to work with these “moms” who “blog.” Kristin falls into this category so I have been aware of what happens and how some things work.
Nestlé’s approach to mom and dad bloggers was a somewhat failure for them. They got the bloggers to come and say what was needed. They got press from it, but sparked a lot of controversy. So much that it continues onto this day in that pseudo case study of brands and bloggers. [continue on…]
With the sunny weather we are having in Oregon, I decided to take the family out for a trip to our local giant historical waterfall, Multnomah Falls. There is still a lot of snow on Mt. Hood which does add to the falls flow.
I have always had a love for nature and getting out these days does not have too much nature involved in it. What can you do? Go out to the park, which many are overlooked, or they overlook a house(s) or business.
I know that is just part of living in a populated area and big city, but it is always good to make sure you truly get out and experience and see nature for yourself with your own eyes. It is good for your self-being and relaxation and stress management.
One of the best parts to experiencing nature is the pictures. We are still learning and playing with our new Nikon D90. Nature provides for some of the best shots possible. Oregon is known for historical landmarks I am thinking about trying to showcase them which would be a good way to get practice. Below are some pictures we took of Multnomah Falls and the Columbia River Gorge.
I also have a short video I took of the river flowing what looked to be upstream and east. Some info about the Columbia River, it flows from Canada through Washington State and Oregon flowing west into the Pacific Ocean. Since that recent earthquake in Chile, I am taking it that the surges from the Ocean made their way up the Columbia. It’s weird because I have never noticed the river this calm and flowing the wrong way. Check out my pictures.

This was taken at Vista House which overlooks the Columbia River.

We have had a sudden flowering of trees and bushes around my city. I have never had a real problem with allergies in my life until the end of last summer in 2009. I had the same thing as I do now, hay fever, along with what seems like a mild cold. It sucks.
To start combating the problem, I took some sinus stuff like Benadryl, and that knocked me out. I am cool on that option. It worked for a little, then I passed out, both times I used it.
I replaced the furnace filter, which was completely filled with dander. I would recommend checking on this periodically, but for the allergy season, replace it. I went with the maximum filtration and it seems to help. I will let it run constantly on auto fan to filter the air inside.
I don’t know what else to do. Maybe look into Claritin? Or just deal with it. It’s hard; my head feels light and congested. I have been sitting over a humidifier on and off, but that doesn’t do too much.
I wanted to share some pictures in response to a tweet I was sent from @twistedxtian “you have flowers blooming? In Feb? I want to live where you are.” If you have allergies it’s not fun. But it does make for some beautiful weather. They are already predicting a drought for the summer, so I guess it’s time for me to get used to it.
I know I don’t do much with my blog these days. When I look back on some of the posts that I had published on my blog, I do not really see too much of what I originally started my blog for on display. At least everything I have created on my blog has been about issues that have affected me, too bad some has been on things that I have no control over, It’s funny how many of the posts that my blog gained some knowing for, were over problems that are very childish. Not too much I can do about it now.
Regardless of the content, my blog does have a Google page rank of a 4, so I guess it has not been all of a complete waste. It may get dropped, but that’s the name of the game. Maybe if I stick at it I can do more with www.delthedad.com. I have thought at times “maybe I should stick to it, and write about things that are relevant to me and my life.” That is what I said I created my blog for since the beginning, so I will try to stick with it.
Even though I am not active on my blog, I still keep up on maintenance which plainly is spam removal. I haven’t really thought of what will come of me and blogging, but maybe if I really give it some effort, something positive could come about. I have always thought I would like to write out articles on issues that I have some deep thoughts about. Maybe some can benefit from my posts on real topics for thought.
I guess, like with many blogs I see out there, the question “why did I create this blog” is mentioned by many. Maybe it is people wondering where they can I fit in? I experienced a lot and have learned a lot with Kristin along her many years of blogging. Tough lessons have also been learned but that is just a part of life. But like with all lessons, it has added to experience. Maybe I have been a little timid on what I do with my blog, since I do not know it all. When I do speak, I am sure I have my facts straight and everything else will be unveiled.
Over the years I have somewhat kept up with what goes on in the social media realm concerning bloggers and public relations. I simply look at it all as insight into an important aspect regarding the future of business communications around the world and into people’s homes. Many people have created blogs to try and make some money, but I think many have also realized that it is not as easy as one may think. My advice, be real and be honest. Make a blog for something in your interest. Of course you can make it strictly to gain, but I think it only makes it that much harder. I will try and do some posts on blogging tips. I have real experience with helping Kristin and some others, and I have always been successful so far.
Just a little more to bore you. I have always been a fan of technologies and social media tools. I had always taken part in the online interactive mediums since back in the days of America Online and their dial up (this is back in the mid 90’s.) I did fall away from computers and the online world up till I met Kristin. Don’t get me wrong, I did not use computer, but I used them more for a tool to gather information and other business purposes. She took it a step future and used it as a digital online scrapbook which plainly was a website, but these days better referred to as a blog. I think about how far the online communities have come and I am curious on how where and far they will go.
Watching what Kristin does has introduced me to a lot of new information and experience with ho some of the current online tools. I am fascinated by the inner workings. I have seen how people interact online, ways you can really have success from a blog, the good and the bad of blogging, along with many other subjects brought about. I have seen some parts of blogging go through changes which have been very fascinating. Kristin’s blog www.ourordianrylife.com was successful and she does not plan to give it up anytime soon.
But that is all fine and dandy for her. What should I do with my blog? My hesitation with blogging I think is that life is very hectic. When I have felt that I would like to publish something that I think would add importance to my blog, the atmosphere is chaotic. Kristin is gone with both of the kids, and it is completely quiet here. I am enjoying it while it lasts, but I think that will end here shortly. The peacefulness is nice.
So maybe I will try and take the time to do something more with my blog. I wonder sometimes if what I put in a post will matter, but I can look at it as tuning my skills of writing. I do enjoy writing in my head, but when it comes time to put it down to see, it seems not so easy. But maybe it is just the noise. I think I will try and put more into my blog.
Well I guess I got enough out this round bout, since the family just walked back in. The silence was broken as I heard them get out of the car outside. I heard them, even before they opened the door. It was nice while it lasted, and it gave me some time to think on what I will do with my blog for the new year of 2010. I have some ideas and I guess it’s all about putting them out there for others to read and possible take something from.
Good luck to all bloggers this year and hopefully everyone has a positive experience.
Disney was nice to give Kristin and us all free day passes to Disneyland and California Adventure. They also gave us one night for free at the Grand Californian plus we are staying an additional night to take it all in. Thanks Disney!

So it seems many out there love to throw this word around. A lot of the time people online use it as means to hurt peoples feelings, but saying what they said is nothing important, but drame.
Maybe they think, I have tons of followers, so I will say that person is causing drama, and hopefully [...]
