Recently, Kristin was invited down to sunny SoCal for a trip with D3 Publisher. We saw a sneak peek of the movie Astro boy that is currently in theaters. I have been playing Astro-boy on the Nintendo Wii, but they do make it for other systems including the Sony PSP, Sony PS2, and Nintendo DS.
This is a game for the younger generation of gamers but can also be played by all including adults. My daughter Kaila, who is 4 and a half, plays it with me. I grew up with playing the original Nintendo and every system after, so its only natural she grows up on a Nintendo system also, right. If she likes playing video games, then I will support it.

The game plays somewhat along the same storyline as the movie, and includes small clips to keep the player on track of whats going on. Astro boy walks and fly’s around shooting and destroying all the bad robots in the city. It pulls away from that violent human interaction which is not needed in kids games, especially ones played by kids. Astro boy goes through the different levels, as in the movie, with added areas.
Besides being able to punch guys which will destroy them, Astro has the ability to make dual machine guns, pop out from the seat of his pants, and he does a whirlwind shooting effect. He also has the classic robot laser beam. There are numerous levels to walk and fly about. The graphics bring a 3D effect which is given, since it is a 3D animation movie. Astro runs on a 2D plane, but the surroundings have a 3D effect. There is the effect of Astro moving throught out his environment, but it stays on a 2D plane.
There is also multi-player mode. Kids were kept in mind with the ability for a second player to quit and join at any time, without affect a single player game. The game is easy enough for my little 4 and a half year old, and gave me a challenge on hard mode. But with a friend around it is a lot easier to battle through the more difficult levels, will leaving a easy mode for young single players.
This is a game for younger players. Kaila enjoyed it, and I liked it. We played together and it was fun. Putting it on easy mode made it easy enough for Kaila to live and get into it without getting too frustrated. For older kids, you can bump up the difficulty between 4 levels and it can get pretty difficult. I have not beat it yet and have gotten stuck on certain levels throughout, but I am working on it.
Here are a couple of screen shots for the Sony PSP, looks pretty darn impressive.

So, I am going to give-a-way a copy for the Sony PSP gaming system. I will run this give-a-way for 2 weeks. Then I will give-a-way a copy for the Nintendo DS.
